Global notes
A note that follows you to every page instead of belonging to one.
Most notes in Pagenail belong to a single page. A global note doesn’t — it appears on every page you visit, in the same spot, until you delete it.
Use one for the thing you’re carrying between pages: a running scratchpad, a checklist you’re working through, the ID you keep pasting into things.
Creating one
Global notes are promoted from stickies. There’s no separate “new global note” button.
- Create a sticky — the pencil icon in the dock, or the Pin button in the note panel
- Type what you want in it
- Hover the sticky, open ⋯, and choose Move to global note
The sticky disappears from that page and reappears as a global note everywhere.
The conversion is one-way: there’s no “move back to this page” action. To undo it, copy the text out, delete the global note, and make a sticky.
Using them
Global notes behave like stickies. Drag them anywhere, resize from the bottom-right, click the amber dot to collapse to a dot and click again to expand. Hovering gives you Copy and Delete.
They’re excluded from anchoring — there’s no page content for them to hold on to.
Across tabs
A global note is the same note in every tab. Edit it in one tab and the other tabs update while you watch, without a reload.
Hiding them
Clear all — the eye icon in the dock — hides global notes along with everything else, for as long as you stay on the page. Nothing is deleted. See The dock.
