Sharing a note

Sharing is built and working in the extension: a sticky’s ⋯ menu creates a link, and opening a share link redirects the recipient to the source page and drops the note onto it. But the MVP scope document defers sharing to v2, and the Share button on thread notes still reads coming soon.

Either ship it and finish this page, or cut the buttons and delete the page. Shipping a half-labelled feature is the worst of the three.

Creating a link

Hover a sticky, open ⋯, and choose Share. Pagenail creates a link and shows it with a Copy link button.

If it fails, the menu offers a retry.

What the recipient sees

Opening the link lands them on a Pagenail page that identifies the source, then forwards them to the page the note was written on. They can cancel the redirect while it counts down.

If they have Pagenail installed, the shared note appears on the page when they arrive.

Shared notes are temporary

A note someone shared with you belongs to that visit. Leave and come back and it’s gone, unless you keep it.

TODO — document the gesture that keeps a shared note. The store supports pinning one, but confirm how a user actually triggers it in the interface.

Sharing from the dashboard

The dashboard’s note modal has its own Share, which is different: it uses your operating system’s share sheet, or falls back to copying the note’s text and address to the clipboard. It does not create a link.
